About Shri Saurashtra Education Trust – Junagadh
General Information
Education is the key to social development. Especially, girl education is very necessary for the overall development of the society. With this thought in mind, the community leaders Shri Dhanabhai Mandabhai Barad, Shri Saramanbhai Ranabhai Maru, Shri Hardasbhai Maldebhai Solanki, Shri Devayatbhai Laxmanbhai Ram, Shri Bharatbhai Naranbhai Kambaliya, Shri Ramdebhai Rajabhai Maru and Shri Naranbhai Mulubhai Bhatiya discussed and considered about the name of Shri Saurashtra Education Trust- Junagadh. The Trust was registered in the year 1982. It is decided to establish and expand the coverage of educational spheres and hostels under the auspices of the Trust.
But, in the year 1982, after the sudden passing away of Shri Dhanabhai Mandabhai Barad, his son, Shri Jashubhai Barad started making concerted efforts to fulfill his father's vision. As a result, the development of the organization got a directed momentum.
Shri Gopalanandji Bapu and Shri Bharatbhai Kambaliya donated land for girl education and Shri Ukabhai Solanki from America generously gave financial support. Hence, in the year - 1989, the construction of 46 rooms building was completed and Ahir Girls' Hostel was auspiciously started.
The comprehensive development of the campus was carried out with the support of donors from the society in which the hostel building was inaugurated in the year 1989 by the hands of Shri Rao Birendra Singh, Cabinet Minister of the Government of India and a pioneer of Ahir community. Secondary and higher secondary schools were started in 1989 and 1991 respectively. The school building was inaugurated in the year 1999 by that time Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Keshubhai Patel. Primary education from class 5 was started in 1999 and primary school building was inaugurated by Swami Sachchidanandji in 2002. Shri Saurashtra Education Trust- Junagadh celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2015 with the official inauguration of hostel building unit-2 by the hands of Shri Poonamben Madam, the MP of Jamnagar and the inauguration of college building by Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, the Education Minister of Gujarat state in the presence of Social Welfare Minister Shri Vasanbhai Ahir and the Trust Board.
College education for girls was started to get higher education after the completion of school education with hostel facilities. Faculties like Arts, Commerce, B.B.A., B.C.A., B.Sc. along with B.Ed. and Post Graduation courses are currently operational. Also, Nursing School, Shri Muni Patanjali Yoga Mahavidyalaya as well as competitive examination classes are also available. In this way, courses from primary to post-graduation are currently running in the campus by the Trust.
Unit-1 campus in Radhakrushna Nagar, near Bilnath Temple is spread over about three acres of land in which education from class 6 to class 12 (Arts, Commerce and Science) with hostel facility is currently functioning. Similarly, the unit-2 campus near Vadla Fatak has been established with modern facilities in 16 acres of land in which college level graduaton courses like Arts, Commerce, B.B.A., B.C.A., B.Sc., B.Ed., Yoga Mahavidyalaya and Nursing (GNM, ANM as well as M.Sc Chemistry, M.Com. M.A.(Psychology) at post graduation level courses are currently running with hostel facilities.
Thus, in both educational campuses run by the Trust, efforts are made to provide an environment where around 2,000 girls can live in hostel and get education with values and build their life and career.
Objectives of the Trust
- To provide nurturing education with national spirit without any discrimination of caste, religion, creed, language, region etc.
- Planning of activities for universalization of education through social, cultural and personality development programmes. Thus being helpful in national service through social service.
- To continue to move forward with plans and approaches that make primary to higher education facilities available.
- Striving to provide quality education with manners and discipline to the students.
- To provide value-oriented, life-oriented and career-oriented education facilities for holistic development of girls.
Activities of the Trust
- Activities to increase the prevalence of girl education in the society and remove superstitions, evil practices, social vices from the society.
- Increase educational and hostel facilities as per need and manage them properly.
- Try to educate the talented girls of economically weak parents by helping them financially.
- Giving priority to education by keeping hostel fees reasonable so that girl education can be encouraged
